Nearly one billion people worldwide lack access to clean water. Unsafe water kills almost two million children under five every year. The scale of this problem is enormous, requiring a large range of solutions and approaches. World Water Day is held annually on March 22nd as a means of focusing attention on the Global Water Crisis.
PSI's Safe Water Programs reach millions of people around the globe. Household water treatment, PSI's approach, ensures that each sip of water is safe to drink. Over the last decade, the PSI network has empowered people to treat over 51 billion liters of water.
In Southern Sudan, PSI reaches out through community outreach sessions and a School to Community Health Initiative, encouraging students to share the messages of health and hygiene with their peers and neighbors.
